Kemp’s Ridley

The Kemp’s ridley has one of the most restricted distributions of any sea turtle species. Nesting occurs almost exclusively on the beaches of the western Gulf of Mexico, primarily in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas. EAI’s 2020 Sea Turtle Nesting Report

During 2020, EAI documented 13,920 loggerhead, 2,384 green turtle, and 528 leatherback nests. For comparison, EAI documented a total of 13,841 loggerhead, 5,532 green turtle, and 282 leatherback nests during the 2019 nesting season.
