EAI’s scientists conduct projects to assess freshwater, marine, and larval fish populations using electrofishing, seines, trawls, gillnets, traps, cast nets, thrown box traps, intake structure pump sampling, and plankton nets. Field investigations include qualitative and quantitative assessments of species composition, density, biomass, and distribution. EAI’s custom electrofishing vessel can be deployed to freshwaters throughout the state. Gut-content analysis, age-and-growth studies, and fish tagging can be paired with any of the field collection techniques.
