Our friend and colleague Cynthia “Cindy” Lott passed away this October, but her exemplary impact and influence on our environmental community will not be forgotten. Cindy was a tenured environmental professional, well-known for her pioneering efforts in the environmental science realm both globally and locally. She studied marine creatures and habitats throughout the Caribbean alongside Sir Peter Scott of the World Wildlife Fund and filmed “Kingdom of the Dolphins” for PBS in 1983. Cindy worked for FDEP for over 20 years and most recently with EAI. She was a teacher, mentor, mermaid, and avid volunteer.  These are just a glimpse of Cindy’s many accomplishments. The Treasure Coast Chapter of the Florida Association of Environmental Professionals posthumously awarded Cindy the “Outstanding Individual Award” at their annual awards banquet in December. The FAEP Treasure Coast Chapter also elected to rename this award going forward as the “Cindy Lott Outstanding Individual Award.” We miss you Cindy and thank you for your kindness, all you taught us, and all the laughs!
